Last week I shared with you the first way to build your confidence. You can read more about that here. Today, I want to share with you the second way for you to build your confidence.

From my 10+ years of coaching, I can put my finger on the number one thing that makes people low in confidence; it’s never pushing themselves out of their comfort zone. It’s a tricky thing. We think the comfort zone is good, because it’s cosy and we think we are happy there. It’s like eating a bag of crisps, or a big piece of gooey chocolate cake. You think it will make you feel good, and it might, for a few minutes. But in the long term, it will make you much worse. This is what happens when you stay in your comfort zone

When we don’t meet new people, try new things, make ourselves feel uncomfortable, we don’t grow. We are stuck. And, then, you are afraid of everything. Even worse the circle closes in on you, it gets smaller and smaller! You might think you are protecting yourself, but you couldn’t do anything worse! (Ok, excluding class A drugs. Those might be a bit worse for you).

What I challenge you to do this week is one thing that you have always wanted to do, but never got around to it, or were too scared to try. If you keep taking these challenges, bit by bit, you find that your circle of comfort becomes bigger and bigger. Soon, you will be fearless!
